(Houston Web Design) – A website is the image of a company on the INTERNET and a direct link with customers. This fact should not be taken lightly, because at present, many people feel the quality in the design of a website as an indicator of the quality of the company.

1. – Consistency with the Corporate Identity

Taking into account the great interaction that represents current and potential customers, designing a website and should be considered as part of the corporate identity, and as such conform to the guidelines of the image you want to project to the company.

Visual consistency in written communication, and the experience generated by the use must be sought in the design and usability of the site. Take your business cards and fliers and compares your design and content to your website, does the image projected by the company is the same?

2. – Easy navigation for the inexperienced

When a company has several twists, products entering more than one category, or just a lot of information, they often make the mistake of confusing navigation or recharged where it is easy to get lost (even for those who are accustomed to surfing the INTERNET ).

The menu of the site should be easy to locate, always present and to the extent possible within categories contain links to other content. Do not forget to place a start button with which you can return to the top.

Put a key word search engine is also recommended.

Think of it as the outside page to see your grandmother, would I find everything easily?.

3.Compatibility with different browsers

It seems incredible, but there are still many that designing and programming a website do not take into consideration the functionality in different browsers.

While Internet Explorer still has many followers, other browsers such as Firefox, Opera, Safari and Chrome recently, are gaining ground for its safety features and speed of code interpretation, incidentally, differ significantly from IE.

This adds complexity to the creation of a website, but as with everything, the attention to detail makes a big difference.

4. – A page under construction is the bane

One of the “deadly sins” in the development of a website is to launch or promote still incomplete.

Phrases like “Under construction, come back soon” not only frustrate the user, but which adversely affect the projected image of company, and not predispose the visitor to explore the rest of the site or simply do not return.

If there is a pending section add, it is preferable to modify the menu as they are finished, instead of having a “dead link”.

5. – Search engine friendly

Everyone wants to appear in Google and other search engines (MSN, Yahoo, etc.), but some do not take into account in its design and web programming ease of indexing and navigation through the site by “robots” of search engines.

A robot is a program dedicated to surf the INTERNET automatically looking to record and relate information to other sites. This is one of the secrets that make the most effective search engine.

For the same reason that they are machines, robots have preference for textual content on visual (images), skip the content called by JavaScript, content in frames (frames), can not read the flash, and usually only review the main section of the site, so if your important information is hidden in a section more than a click away, probably will not see it.

The key word here is “friendly”. An ideal site is friendly with customers, with different types of people who visit, with different browsers with search engines. As in everything that is done to promote a company, seek to be clear, useful, and create an enjoyable experience that relates to the brand.
